(Frequently Asked Questions)

Can i book online?

I like to retain control of my diary to offer my clients flexibility on their appointment times, so the best way to book some treatment time with me is to message me directly on 07305 399 253 with your preferred days and times to fit around your commitments and I’ll check my diary. Alternatively while you’re visiting my website to can click on get in touch with your preferences and I’ll get back to you.

How do i pay for my treatment?

I encourage all of my clients to pay in advance by bank transfer so you can appreciate the full benefit of your experience at The Retreat and concentrate on nothing more than floating home afterwards enjoying your post treatment glow. All the details you need will be included in your booking confirmation email once you make an appointment.

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

Please see my cancellation policy in the practical bits listed below.

What happens at my first appointment?

At your first appointment, we’ll begin with a 15-minute consultation to help me understand what brings you to The Retreat, check for any medical concerns, and create a personalised treatment plan. Your booking confirmation email will include a consultation form – to make the most of your hands-on treatment time,
please complete the online form.

To help you ease gently back into the world after your session, you may wish to bring something comfy to change into afterwards – many clients like to do this, especially after evening appointments.

Your privacy and comfort are really important to me. I’ll always tuck soft linen into your underwear to protect your modesty and clothing during your treatment. If you’d prefer, you’re welcome to wear shorts, your favourite granny pants, or I can provide disposable underwear if needed.

Before we begin, I’ll make sure you're comfortable with bolsters, cushions and blankets if you'd like them. I’ll then leave the room to give you time to get ready in peace. Don’t forget to switch your phone to silent so you can fully enjoy the experience of stepping away from everyday life for a while.

After your treatment, we’ll spend a few minutes discussing any findings or recommendations, along with personalised aftercare advice to help you make the most of the benefits.

Please be mindful that your appointment time includes the consultation, treatment and aftercare advice, ensuring your experience is tailored to your individual needs from start to finish.

Where are you located?

The Retreat is based at the bottom of my garden on the peaceful Rangewood Road Estate in South Normanton. I don’t have a waiting area, so please arrive for your appointment time as best you can. You can always say hi to the horses in the field opposite my house if you’re early. There is plenty of free parking available in our cul de sac too but please be respectful to our neighbours when parking here.

There is a small step down from the driveway and a step up into The Retreat, if you will need assistance then please let me know in advance.

If you’re feeling a little anxious about arriving for your appointment please let me know and I can send you a video so you know where you’re heading and what to expect when you arrive at The Retreat.

What should I wear and will I need to undress?

The most important thing is that you feel relaxed, so choose clothing that’s comfortable and easy to slip on and off. Your comfort and dignity are always respected throughout your treatment.

    • Massage: You’ll be asked to undress to your underwear so that I can work effectively with your muscles. You’ll always be covered with blankets, with only the area being treated exposed, to ensure your comfort and privacy.
    • Reflexology: You’ll remain fully clothed; I’ll just need access to your feet (or hands if it’s hand reflexology).
    • Facials & Indian Head Massage: It’s helpful if you wear a top that allows easy access to your shoulders and décolleté area.
Which treatment should I choose?

If you're not sure which treatment is right for you, don't worry. Tell me what you'd like help with and I'll happily guide you towards the best option.

Can you diagnose what is wrong with me?

No. As a therapist I am not able to diagnose or cure medical conditions. I will discuss with you how your body feels after treatment and may refer you on to a medical professional, but if you have specific questions regarding a medical condition you should see your GP.

Can I talk during my treatment?

Absolutely! Some clients love a chat, others enjoy the peace and quiet, and many do a bit of both. This is your time, so however you feel most comfortable is perfect.

What if I fall asleep?

Perfect! I encourage you to embrace a little power nap if your body and mind are telling you that’s what they want to do. As an added benefit being so relaxed to drift off to sleep for a while means that your muscles will be more amenable to massage making the treatment a whole lot more beneficial.

Plus The Retreat is well insulated so no one will hear if a little snore escapes, in fact it’s the biggest compliment I could ever receive!

How do I get the most out of my appointment?

Don't be afraid to ask for adjustments whether you need to feel more comfortable, need a change of temperature or a different pressure this is your time, your treatment, so I would much rather you feel like you're getting the most benefit from your experience.

I also invite you to pop your phone on silent, get comfy and allow yourself permission to switch off for a while. The less you have to think about the outside world, the more you'll benefit from your treatment.

What should I do after my treatment?

Drink plenty of water, take things a little slower if you can, and allow yourself time to enjoy that lovely post-treatment glow. The personalised aftercare advice I will explain to you at the end of you treatment will help you get the very best from your experience.

How often should I have treatments?

Everybody is different. Some clients visit monthly as part of their self-care routine, while others book when they feel they need a little extra support. I'll always make recommendations based on your individual needs.

I'm pregnant – can I still have treatments?

If you're pregnant, please get in touch before booking. Some treatments and treatment elements may need to be adapted, and I'll happily advise on the most suitable options for you.

Can I bring someone with me?

The Retreat is a cosy one-person space, so unless we've agreed otherwise in advance, I'd ask that you attend your appointment on your own. This helps keep the environment calm, relaxing and comfortable for everyone.

What is a Treatment Topper?

Treatment Toppers are those little extras that can be added to your treatment to make it even more indulgent. Think of them as the cherry on top of your relaxation sundae. Check out the treatments section of my website for more details.

The Practical Bits

(Terms & Conditions)

Cancellation Policy

Life happens and sometimes plans need to change. If you need to reschedule your appointment, that's absolutely fine – I simply ask for as much notice as possible.

To help keep The Retreat running smoothly for everyone, the following charges may apply for late cancellations or changes:

48+ hours notice – No fee / Full refund

24–48 hours notice – 25% of the treatment price

Less than 24 hours notice – 50% of the treatment price

No notice / non-attendance – Up to 100% of the treatment price may be charged

Gift vouchers will be redeemed accordingly.

If you're feeling under the weather with something contagious (such as flu, a sickness bug or an infectious skin condition), please get in touch to rearrange your appointment. For the wellbeing of all clients, I may need to postpone or decline treatments where there is a risk of illness being passed on.

Very occasionally, I may need to rearrange an appointment due to circumstances beyond my control. If this happens, I'll always do my best to find a suitable alternative. If that's not possible, any prepaid appointments will be fully refunded, and voucher or package expiry dates may be extended where appropriate.

Bookings & Payments

Generally bookings are taken on a first come first served basis, however if you like to be super organised then my diary is usually open up to 6 months in advance, however payment for your treatment is required up front to secure your booking so you may be interested in my Pamper Plan.

Pamper Plan

My Pamper Plan is designed to make regular self-care a little easier, with five 60-minute treatments paid for and the sixth on me.

A few simple bits to know:

  • Pamper Plan appointments are valid for 60-minute treatments only.
  • The complimentary sixth treatment is based on six 60-minute appointments. Additional treatment time can't be added, as longer treatments already include discounted pricing.
  • To get the most from your plan, appointments are best used within 6 months of purchase. Any unused appointments after this time will expire.
  • Late cancellations, missed appointments or no-shows may result in the loss of that appointment from the plan.
  • The good news is that Pamper Plan appointments can be shared with family and friends, so if life gets busy, someone else can enjoy a little relaxation too.
  • Pamper Plans are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
  • The complimentary sixth treatment has no cash value and cannot be exchanged for alternative treatments, products, services or credit.
Birthday Vouchers

My birthday gift to you is a little contribution towards your next dose of self-care.

  • Birthday vouchers are valid for 3 months from your birthday and cannot be extended.
  • Vouchers can be redeemed against the purchase of treatment time or a treatment topper only and cannot be exchanged for cash, credit or products.
  • Birthday vouchers are non-transferable and intended for the named recipient only.
  • The Retreat reserves the right to withdraw or amend the birthday voucher scheme at any time.
Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase and can be purchased for either a specific treatment duration or a monetary value. Vouchers are non-refundable, cannot be exchanged for cash and must be redeemed before their expiry date. Please keep your voucher safe, as lost vouchers cannot be replaced.

Arrival Times

Arriving late may result in your treatment being shortened to avoid impacting subsequent appointments. The full treatment fee will still apply.

Your Health & Wellbeing

Your safety and wellbeing are always my top priority. Before your first appointment, you'll be asked to complete a consultation form, which we'll discuss together to ensure your treatment is tailored to your individual needs. Before each subsequent appointment, I'll check in with you to see whether anything has changed since your last visit, such as your health, medication, pregnancy status or any medical treatment you may be receiving.

It's important that you provide accurate and up-to-date information and let me know about any changes before your treatment begins. All treatments are subject to consultation and suitability, and occasionally I may need to adapt, postpone or decline treatment if it isn't safe to proceed. In some circumstances, approval from your GP or consultant may be required before treatment can take place.

Everybody is different, and while treatments are designed to support relaxation, wellbeing and self-care, specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

Respect & Professionalism

The Retreat is a safe, welcoming space for everyone, and all treatments are provided in a professional and therapeutic setting. Any inappropriate behaviour may result in treatment being ended immediately and full payment being retained.

The Retreat reserves the right to refuse, adapt or discontinue treatment where it is considered inappropriate, unsafe, or where these terms and conditions have not been respected. Repeated late cancellations, missed appointments or failure to adhere to these terms may also result in future bookings being declined.

Privacy & Data Protection

Personal information is collected solely for the safe and effective delivery of treatments and is handled in accordance with applicable data protection legislation

Personal Belongings

While I hope you'll leave feeling lighter than when you arrived, please make sure you remember to take your personal belongings with and store them somewhere safe during your visit. The Retreat cannot accept responsibility for any lost or damaged items.
